Ever been burned by the pop-up grease from cooking bacon in a frying pan? You stand far from the pan, stretching your hand in- trying your best not to be burned again. Then, clumsily pull each strip out onto a pile of 5 sheets of paper towels on a plate to soak up all of the grease that didn't splatter all over your stove top.
Solution:
When cooking bacon, lay the strips out over a broiling pan in the oven at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes (if thick bacon add 7 minutes). Baking bacon, reduces pop-up grease, reduces smoke and smell in home, and catches grease in the bottom of the pan so you can reduce paper towel waste. It will also free up your time and space to make your other breakfast items, so you may want to make this your first step in making breakfast.
Don't forget - don't ever pour grease down your drain! It always amazes me how many people don't know this. Have you ever seen fat after it's dry? You won't want that in your drains. Even running hot water down the drain with the grease won't keep it from clogging your drains. Your pipes have a long way to go, and you're hot water may not keep it hot down that cold pipe for long. If you're that lazy, look online for the disposable broiling pans.
